Peas and CrayonsBreakfast IMG_1914

oats + wheat Bran + protein powder + banana + blueberries + almond butter

I have eaten this for breakfast for the past 6 days.  Thank you cold winter weather for triggering an “oatmeal kick”.

I would say that I was on a solid sandwich kick for the majority of 2009-2011 but fell off that bandwagon in favor of avocado toast with eggs.  While my open-faced sandwich streak is DEFINITELY not ending anytime soon, today I decided to pack up my old favorite simple sammie to eat between classes…

whole wheat sprouted bread + turkey + lettuce + tomato + avocado + mustard

There are no obscure sandwich ingredients in this guy, but sometimes simplicity tastes better than any fancy carmalizedoniongoatcheesemangochutneyglutenfreewrap thingy that I am usually oh-so eager to try.

Over Christmas Break I went a 3 solid weeks without ever stepping foot inside a Starbucks.  3 WEEKS people! But now that I’m back at school it is just way to convenient to pop into Starbucks for an afternoon pick me up.IMG_0768

Iced Coffee with Soymilk + SF Hazelnut syrup.  Yes please.

To compliment the caffeine pumping through my veins I decided to elevate my blood glucose levels even more with a massive apple and an unsaid amount of chocolates from my wonderful NannyFam. Sugar + caffeine is stellar combo.

Dinner IMG_1909

1 egg + 3 egg white (later drowned in ketchup & sriracha)

avocado toast

kale + bell pepper + mushrooms + parsnips

Bedtime Snack

Puffins pillows of joy + cornflakes + peanut butter + banana + yogurt + mixed berries

Who else eats cereal out of a mug? WHY is it so much better than eating out of a bowl…

I’m OBSESSEd with = puffins! I think I might have to try putting them on ice cream next time I have them. And you’re right- in a mug is way cooler.

I’m all about the SF hazlenut syrup at Starbucks. Over Christmas I can’t count how many SF hazlenut americanos I had. DIVINE!

  3. I’m all about the SF hazlenut syrup from Starbucks. I can’t count the number of SF hazlenut Americanos I had over Christmas. DIVINE! :)

  4. Puffins in a mug definitely taste better. They are the perfect topping on smoothies as well =) Heck they are the perfect toppings for anything really!!

  5. Can’t go wrong with the classic sandwich! Honestly, I haven’t gone to Starbucks much. They’re pricier than other coffee places by me and I have no idea what to get ever without it being 94804835 calories!

Your WIAW always leave me reaaaally hungry because I basically love all the same foods as you. They also make me feel like I need to start eating more balanced meals because you are great about incorporating all the food groups! I really want some avocado toast now :)

  9. puffins are pillows of heaven, Love them to pieces. while I don’t love starbucks, I adore their iced coffees

Ah I have been off the sandwich train for a few years but maybe need to pick it back up! Otherwise I am left starving from my snacks.

And eating anything out of a mug is MICH more fun :)

  12. My boss may agree with you, he eats oatmeal out of coffee mugs… I’m the one who has to do all the dishes though :P

You really can’t beat a nice homemade sandwich! I’ve actually been ordering a lot of turkey sandwiches lately too, I’m trying to up my protein intake and turkey breast is so lean and goes with most toppings!

You’re so right– it makes no sense, but food always tastes better out of a mug. It’s a scientific mystery, but alas, I’m just going to go with it. :)

  14. Yum you really had a delicious day of eats!!

  15. Eating from a mug just screams comfort and snuggling up in bed to me. Why can’t I get Puffins around here – and all other fantastic US cereals if we’re on the topic already ;) ?

Sounds like you’re nannying for the right family!

  16. When given the choice, I choose a mug over a bowl every time.

  17. LOVE the look of this sandwich! ..and oatmeal …and everything haha!

3 weeks without Starbucks?! I’m currently on day 3 and I was proud of myself. That’s not for lack of desire, though…only lack of time. Thank goodness for Keurigs!

  19. I’ve never eaten cereal out of a mug, but I’m going to have to try now.
I love the sound and look of your simple Sammie. Sounds delicious.

  20. I’m amazed that you went three weeks without Starbucks! Normally when I am home I take advantage of my mom’s wallet and make her go to Starbucks with me ;) I definitely agree that SF hazelnut is the way to go!

  21. I have seen a few people eating avocado toast, I will have to give it a try!

  22. ….and now I’m hungry and really want a turkey sandwich!
    Great eats!!!

  23. LOL, so proud of you not going to starbucks for 3 weeks. But seriously…I totally understand seeing as I go to the gas station like it’s my job.

  24. Your dinner sounds so good! I will definitely have to try out that combo. I love avocado toast and veggie stir-fries, but I never thought of trying them together. Variety is definitely the spice of life :)

  25. Picky Nicky Says:

I like putting cereal in a mug too :) I dont know why but it just feels like more of a snack, less overwhelming
