I will be the first one to admit, my little corner of the innerwebs has been radio silent for far too long. Why you may ask? Well, I’ve been working. A lot. But other than that I have really just been enjoying my life without worrying about whipping out my camera to document. There has been some pretty fine eats recently, so I think I should probably return to being THAT PERSON who needs to snap a picture of everything out of the ordinary.

I truly have no idea where I am going with this, but I figured to get back my blogging mojo, I need to recap the holiday related food. And because I took pictures of it…

TurkeyLet’s start with Thanksgiving. Almost a month ago, YES, but still noteworthy. You guys, I was in charge of the mother effing bird. Pressure much? Luckily our family had a small Thanksgiving of around 10 people since a lot of relatives were out of town, but it was still nerve racking getting that little turkey prepped and ready for consumption. My mom also walked my through the entire process step by step which was oh-so helpful.

And the finished meal x2. It looks pretty identical to last years meal, but what can I say, I am a creature of habit. We’ve got turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, cornbread, mashed taters, sweet taters, and roasted veggies.

IMG_3502And I ate Thanksgiving leftovers on top of a pile of lettuce for a couple says. NOTHING is better than getting sent home with mass amounts of tupperware from family dinner.

LatkesOne of my roommates is Jewish therefore a Hanukkah celebration was in order. Going to catholic school for 12 years of my life never really overlapped with this holiday so it was my first time celebrating. She made us latkes and since she left her menorah at home, we did a make-shift version using random candles found through the house. Those latkes were good, but I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I put ketchup on them. Not traditional, but oh-so good.

Califia NogTransitioning to the impending holiday, let’s talk about this Nog. FREAKING DELICIOUS. I have long been a fan of Califia Farms and not one of the products ever disappoint, but this nog is like crack. I legitimately found myself taking swigs of this during random moments of the day frequently. I guess that would explain why the bottle only lasted 5 days before I polished it off.

If you have ever taken a LOA (leave of absence), how do you get back into your blogging groove?

Who has exciting holiday plans?

Woohooo for food!! Haha, I’ve been out of the game for about a week, simply because when I’m at home, I don’t want to be on my phone or computer the whole darn time. I think it helps when I have a job (desk job at that) and can brainstorm posts or take pictures of food when I’m out and about. However, I did realize that not blogging every single day is ok and life will go on.

I’m so interested in trying that nog!! I loved their iced coffee!! Merry Christmas :)

You are a domestic goddess! Why? Because you made that epic turkey!!

That turkey is freaking amazing- great job!!! I have been in charge of the bird the last 4 years, it’s my favorite part. Definitely gets easier every year :)

    Happy 2014!!!
